Favorite WOD: I find I enjoy AMRAP WODs the most and I usually surprise myself with the reps that I do.
Least Favorite WOD: Anything with burpees
Tell us about your sports & fitness background: I played soccer very competitively until the end of High School. Played volleyball for a few years in high school as well. Nothing really after high school.
How did you first get exposed to CrossFit? Take us back to your first WOD… what was it, and how did it feel?
I first was exposed to crossfit in Chiropractic school in my rehab class. It wasn’t until after school that I got exposed to Crossfit Caliber. My friend posted a 10 free class contest on fb which I won. My first WOD was the intro one that I didn’t make it past 5 burpees before quitting.
What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting CF? (before / after)
I have upper body strength which I never had before. My endurance and mental strength have improved drastically as well. I used to give up on my work out regiment but I’ve stuck with Crossfit for over a year now.
What sort of changes in your life have you experienced out of taking on something like CrossFit that were totally unexpected?
I notice that I don’t avoid doing things anymore because “it’s too heavy” or “I’m too out of shape”. I’m more active now which I love.
Please share with us any favorite CrossFit / CFC moments.
The 21 minutes of burpees stands out because Arnel doesn’t let me forget it! Also since I went from quitting after 5 burpees to that.
Any advice for people just getting started?
Just do it! Do what you can, modify what you can’t, and watch yourself progress to be able to do the stuff you couldn’t before. Also make sure you listen to your body and the coaches so you don’t over do anything and hurt yourself.
What are your hobbies, interests and/or talents outside of CrossFit?
I love my dogs and being active outside.
