Have you done the Open before? If so how many times? Yes, one -2017
What are you looking forward to in the Open? I’m looking forward to seeing the progress I make from last year and the 5 minutes after every workout. I also love having my family there doing the open workouts along side me.
What are you not looking forward to? Overhead squats. They should be banned!
Are you anticipating a “first” in the Open, like a first Pull-up, Box Jump or Muscle up? How about a PR? Getting a few pull ups in and well…..maybe an overhead squat without breaking my back.
When you get into that “dark place” in a workout how do you handle it? People believe I don’t have profanity in my vocab, but during those tough workouts my mind lets loose sometimes and all those unspoken words start swirling in there. Other times I just keep repeating “Come on Reyna tough it out” or I glance around and see others suffering just as much and since they haven’t quit I can’t either. I’ve also done a few marathons and think If I can run out there for hours I can get through a 25 minute workout.
Favorite workout music? Eye of the Tiger- that one never fails to get some adrenaline going!
If you were to choose either “Murph” or “Fran” for a workout of the day which would you choose? Murph, for sure. It has some running in it. As a matter of a fact they should add more mileage to it!
I like that I found an awesome community at crossfit to work out with. I had never imagined that I could work out at that intensity with so many people around me and be ok with it. I like that I’m no longer afraid of “the bar”. In the very beginning it really use to intimidate me and would hope it wouldn’t be included in the workout. Although it’s taken a while, I like that I’ve become a bit leaner and feel much more fit than 1 year ago. Oh and I love the diversity caliber has, so awesome to hear so many languages, see people of different ages, careers and abilities. Like where else do you get that?
