Occupation: Instructional Designer

When did you first start CrossFitting? May 2015

When did you first start training at CFC? May 2015

Favorite WOD: Murph, because it’s an accomplishment and a memorial

Least Favorite WOD: Karen, because wallballs

Tell us about your sports & fitness background: I was the kid who always got picked last and didn’t start working out until I was an adult. I’ve done Taekwondo up to training for black belt. I still do not do “team sports” and I do like group fitness, yoga, and doing my own thing (running, gym).

How did you first get exposed to CrossFit? Take us back to your first WOD… what was it, and how did it feel?

I decided to try Crossfit after tanking in an obstacle course race. A good friend who “doesn’t look like a Crossfitter” inspired me too. I remember feeling very inept my first month or so as I learned the movements and got used to the intensity of Crossfit. By day 30 of my trial, I was hooked!

What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting CF? (before / after)

I have gotten a LOT stronger and faster. I am more confident regardless of what the scale and clothing labels say.

What sort of changes in your life have you experienced out of taking on something like CrossFit that were totally unexpected?

I have made so many new friends, and my social life has exploded since joining CFC. My wallet has emptied and my dresser drawers are full of shirts 😊

Please share with us any favorite CrossFit / CFC moments: Getting my 200 lb deadlift. Doing Murph in under 60 minutes. Karaoke, dancing, deadlifting Jenny N, competing.

Any advice for people just getting started?

Be patient with yourself as you learn the movements. Listen to the coaches. Challenge yourself.

Tell us something interesting about yourself totally unrelated to CrossFit.

I am a two-day Jeopardy champ.
