When did you first start CrossFitting?
When did you first start training at CFC?
Hmmm, that’s like what is your favorite Lego piece to step on barefoot in the dark. I would go with Cindy on this one. Sweet gal but brutal at the same time.
Least Favorite WOD
Any of them that require squats and throwing a ball up the wall, that movement just wasn’t meant for me lol.
Tell us about your sports & fitness background.
I used to train MMA about 6 years ago until I tore 75% of the ligaments in my elbow during a practice. After that, I did have gastric bypass surgery and found my love for running OCR (Obstacle Course Races). They are what drives me to enhance my body and physical abilities to perform better on the course.
How did you first get exposed to CrossFit? Take us back to your first WOD… what was it, and how did it feel?
Holly and I signed up for the 101 classes. She had a wedding coming up, and I enjoy seeing my toes again, so we thought why not? I remember our first class was squat and lift movements which wasn’t that bad.
What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting CF? (before / after)
I’m still waiting for my lungs to embrace the workout and let me go harder. They like to slow me down during rounds.
What sort of changes in your life have you experienced out of taking on something like CrossFit that were totally unexpected?
It’s only been about two months, but I definitely feel more muscles in my thighs which was a pleasant surprise.
Please share with us any favorite Crossfit / CFC moments.
When Kate passes me up in reps and I am dying on the floor, she still takes the time to cheer me on like a true team player.
Any advice for people just getting started?
It’s not a race, go at your own pace, you are your only competition.
What are your hobbies, interests and/or talents outside of CrossFit?
I like video games, WWE, comic cons, very nerdy hobbies. I am a Windy City Ghostbuster outside of here, which includes dressing up as a Buster and going out with my group to raise money for La Rabida Children’s Hospital and the Humane Society. It’s a lot of fun and a great excuse to make and wear a proton pack : p
